Our Alpha Capital Group review

Overview

Alpha Capital Group is a proprietary trading evaluation firm registered in England and Wales as Alpha Capital Group Limited (company number 13719951) and run from London. It was founded in 2021 by Andrew Blaylock and George Kohler and has grown to more than 200 staff, making it one of the larger UK-based names in the forex and CFD prop space. The group has since spun off Alpha Futures for futures traders and, in 2025, launched Alpha Prime, a small London trading floor where selected high performers trade live capital for a salary and profit share. This review covers the core CFD challenge business.

As with all prop challenges, traders pay a one-off fee to trade a simulated account under risk limits. Passing leads to a funded account on which the trader earns a performance fee (80% of simulated profit) rather than trading their own money.

Regulation and safety

Alpha Capital Group is not an FCA-authorised broker or investment firm, and its evaluations are not a regulated financial product. The company describes its activity as education and simulated trading. Its UK incorporation and named leadership give more corporate transparency than many offshore competitors, but traders should understand that disputes are governed by the firm's terms rather than a regulator or compensation scheme. Alpha Prime, the separate live-trading arm, was reported in April 2025 as operating under regulatory exemptions and clearing through FCA-regulated firms.

Reputation and notable issues

For several years Alpha Capital had one of the strongest review profiles in the sector, with Trustpilot scores around 4.6 and tens of thousands of reviews. That changed in 2026: when we checked in late October 2026 its Trustpilot page displayed a warning that the rating was unavailable because of a breach of guidelines, stating that a number of fake reviews had been removed. PropFirmMap downgraded its safety grade around the same time. This does not by itself mean payouts are not made, but it does undermine the value of the firm's review count as a signal.

On payouts, the company told Finance Magnates it paid around $80 million in 2024 and that cumulative payouts reached about $120 million by December 2025, implying a sharp fall in 2025 volume. Community complaints, as summarised by review sites, centre on KYC checks, payout reviews in which profits from "invalid" trades are removed, and rule interpretation.

Challenge types and rules

The lineup has broadened considerably. Based on FXEmpire and other reviews checked for this article:

  • Alpha One (1-step, $5K–$200K): 10% target, 4% daily loss, 6% trailing maximum; a newer 6% variant uses a 6% target, 3% daily and 4% maximum loss.
  • Alpha Pro 6% / 8% / 10% (2-step, $5K–$200K): targets of 6%/6%, 8%/5% or 10%/5%, with daily limits of 3%, 4% or 5% and static maximum losses of 6%, 8% or 10%.
  • Alpha Swing (2-step): 10%/5% targets, 5% daily and 10% static maximum, built for holding over nights and weekends.
  • Alpha Three (3-step, $10K–$200K): 8%/4%/4% targets, 4% daily and 6% maximum, at a lower fee.
  • Alpha Direct (instant funding): no evaluation, 3% daily loss and 5% trailing maximum with a 1% per-asset risk cap.

Most plans need three trading days per phase, and there is no time limit on Alpha One and Alpha Pro. Trades must stay open at least two minutes, at least half of profits must come from trades held longer than that, and accounts are suspended after 30 days of inactivity. Leverage is up to 1:100 on FX in Alpha Pro (1:30 on Alpha One), with lower limits on indices, metals and oil.

Fees and pricing

Prices vary by plan and promotion. At the time of checking (5 November 2026) reviews listed $5K accounts from roughly $27–$50 depending on the model, with $200K accounts running from about $700 for Alpha Three to around $1,100 for Swing or Alpha Pro 8%. Sources disagree on fee refunds: one review lists refunds on Alpha One and Alpha Pro, while FXEmpire says fees are not refunded, so confirm at checkout.

Platforms and instruments

Traders can use MetaTrader 5, cTrader, DXtrade or TradeLocker, and the firm launched its own mobile app in December 2025 for tracking progress and requesting payouts. The instrument range is narrow: FXEmpire counts about 40 symbols across 29 currency pairs, eight indices, two commodities and two metals, with no stocks. Expert advisors are permitted only after you submit the files for approval, and funded-stage EA use is limited to MT5. News trading is open in evaluations but restricted around releases on most funded plans; weekend holding is not allowed on funded Alpha Pro accounts.

Payouts

Funded traders choose bi-weekly withdrawals (after at least five trading days, $100 minimum) or on-demand withdrawals, which require 2% gross profit and that no single day exceeds 40% of profits. Requests are paid through Rise, Wise or bank transfer, typically within two business days. A scaling plan on Pro, Swing and Three can lift allocations to $2 million.

Who it suits

Alpha Capital suits forex and index CFD traders who want a UK-registered counterparty, a range of drawdown profiles to match their style, and conventional payout rails including bank transfer. Swing traders have a dedicated plan. It is less attractive for crypto or stock CFD traders, scalpers affected by the two-minute rule, or anyone seeking a split above 80%.

Verdict

Alpha Capital Group offers clear, well-structured challenges, decent pricing and a stronger corporate footprint than most rivals. However, the 2026 Trustpilot guidelines breach and the apparent drop in payout volume in 2025 are real reputational blemishes, and its instrument list is thin. It remains a credible option for disciplined CFD traders, but read the payout-review rules carefully and remember this is an unregulated evaluation service. Current terms are on the official Alpha Capital Group website.
