Our Take Profit Trader review
Overview
Take Profit Trader (TPT) is a futures-only proprietary trading evaluation firm based in Orlando, Florida. It was founded in 2021 by chief executive James Sixsmith, who said in a September 2026 company-written article on Finance Magnates that the firm has more than 90,000 active traders and has grown without outside investment. TPT is best known for letting funded traders withdraw daily from the first day of their PRO account, and for an evaluation with no daily loss limit.
Futures prop firms work differently from forex/CFD firms such as FTMO. Instead of a fixed percentage daily loss and static maximum loss, TPT uses a dollar-based trailing drawdown, charges a monthly subscription rather than a one-off fee, caps position size by contracts rather than leverage, and requires positions to be flat before the daily close. Traders should read the rules with those differences in mind.
Regulation and safety
TPT is not a regulated futures commission merchant or broker. Evaluations and PRO accounts run on simulated data feeds from Rithmic or Tradovate/CQG, and the firm pays traders a share of simulated profits. US-based futures prop firms came under closer scrutiny after the CFTC's 2023 action against My Forex Funds, a forex firm, but we found no regulatory action against Take Profit Trader.
Its Trustpilot profile showed 4.4 out of 5 from more than 11,000 reviews in late October 2026, with no warning banner, and we found no dated payout scandal in reputable news sources. As with any prop firm, your risk is the subscription and activation fees, not trading capital.
Evaluation rules
TPT runs a single one-step "Test" in five sizes. Each has a profit target, an end-of-day trailing drawdown and a contract limit:
| Account | List price / month | Profit target | Trailing drawdown | Max contracts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $25K | $150 | $1,500 | $1,500 | 3 |
| $50K | $170 | $3,000 | $2,000 | 6 |
| $75K | $245 | $4,500 | $3,000 | 9 |
| $100K | $330 | $6,000 | $4,000 | 12 |
| $150K | $360 | $9,000 | $4,500 | 15 |
There is no daily loss limit and no deadline to pass. The minimum number of trading days has been reduced from five to three, and a 50% consistency rule applies in the evaluation only: no single day may account for more than half of total profit. In 2026 the firm switched from failing accounts that are not flat by 4:55 PM ET to automatically closing them, for all Tradovate accounts and for Rithmic accounts created from 6 May 2026.
Fees and costs
List prices run from $150 to $360 per month (checked 5 November 2026), and discount campaigns frequently halve them. A $130 activation fee is charged once you pass, though promotions sometimes waive it. Resets cost $79–$199 for evaluations. Commissions are about $5 per round turn on standard contracts and $0.50 on micros. For a trader who needs several months to pass, the subscription model can cost more than a one-time-fee forex challenge.
Funded accounts: PRO and PRO+
After passing, traders receive a PRO account with an 80% split. Withdrawals can be made daily with no cap, but there is a catch: PRO uses an intraday trailing drawdown, so open profits immediately lift the liquidation level, and a buffer equal to the drawdown must be built before profits become freely withdrawable. PRO also requires at least one round trip per calendar week.
Successful traders may be moved, at TPT's discretion, to PRO+, which pays 90%, uses an end-of-day drawdown, has no daily loss limit and includes a free exchange data subscription. A March 2026 review reports that a PRO account with $20,000 or more in accumulated profit triggers a transition, with $5,000 frozen as a non-withdrawable deposit.
Up to five PRO/PRO+ accounts can be held and trade-copied.
Platforms and instruments
Platform choice is a strength. TPT supports more than a dozen front ends via Rithmic or Tradovate/CQG, including NinjaTrader, Tradovate, TradingView, Quantower, R|Trader Pro, ATAS, Bookmap, MotiveWave, MultiCharts and Sierra Chart. Tradable products are CME Group futures (CME, CBOT, NYMEX and COMEX), covering equity indices, rates, energy, metals and currencies.
Trading restrictions
Positions cannot be held overnight or over the weekend at any stage. News trading is free in the evaluation, but funded accounts must be flat from one minute before to one minute after FOMC statements, NFP and CPI, with additional blackouts on crude oil inventories and bond auctions for the related contracts. Automated strategies and EAs are prohibited; the terms state that the firm is looking for discretionary traders. Hedging across accounts leads to a permanent ban. According to one review, residents of 118 countries are restricted.
Payouts
Payouts are paid via PayPal, Plaid (US bank), Wise and, according to some reviews, stablecoins. Withdrawals of $250 or less carry a $50 fee. The company says it cut transfer times to seconds in July 2026, a claim we could not independently verify.
Who it suits
TPT suits discretionary US-session futures day traders who want daily access to profits and a choice of advanced charting platforms. It is less suitable for swing traders, algorithmic traders, and anyone uncomfortable with an intraday trailing drawdown on the PRO stage.
Verdict
Take Profit Trader combines a straightforward evaluation without a daily loss limit, flexible daily payouts and strong platform support with a clean public record so far. The PRO buffer, intraday trailing drawdown and recurring monthly fees are the main drawbacks. For intraday futures traders who understand those mechanics, it is one of the more established options.
