Our Goat Funded Trader review

Overview

Goat Funded Trader (GFT) is a forex and CFD proprietary trading evaluation firm founded in May 2023 by Edoardo Dalla Torre. FXEmpire lists its base as Hong Kong, and a July 2026 review of its terms names two contracting entities: Wishes Tower International Limited in Hong Kong and Goat Funded LTD in Saint Lucia. The firm grew quickly by offering a very wide catalogue of challenge models, low entry prices and add-ons such as a 100% profit split upgrade. As at every prop firm, traders buy access to a simulated account, and passing the rules earns a share of simulated profits rather than control of real capital.

Regulation and safety

GFT is not a regulated broker or investment firm, and no financial authority oversees its evaluations or payouts. Its offshore structure means traders' rights rest entirely on the terms of service. This is common across the industry, but it matters more when a firm's track record includes payout disputes, as GFT's does.

Reputation and 2026 problems

Goat Funded Trader has had a difficult 2026. Trustpilot has publicly flagged the company for guideline breaches and states it removed a number of fake reviews; FXEmpire found the rating hidden in February 2026, and MyForexFirms reported an underlying score of about 3.4 out of 5 with roughly a quarter of reviews at one star. In April 2026 GFT absorbed the prop firm TradeXMastery without public advance notice.

Former TradeXMastery customers were moved onto GFT accounts, some reportedly receiving "pay later" challenges they had not bought, and a Forex Peace Army warning thread in May 2026 described a payout that GFT had called "safe" in an April 17 email but had not paid. We found no public statement from GFT on how pending TradeXMastery obligations would be settled.

On the positive side, payout trackers record roughly $11–12 million in withdrawals, and the company itself claims more. Common complaints include copy-trading flags triggered by shared devices or VPNs, "cluster" payout denials and changes to dashboard data.

Challenge types and rules

FXEmpire counted eight programs in March 2026, and the lineup keeps changing. Key models include:

  • Standard 2-Step ($5K–$200K): 10% then 5% target, 5% daily and 10% static maximum loss.
  • GOAT 2-Step ($5K–$150K): 8% then 6%, 4% daily and 10% static maximum loss.
  • PRO 2-Step: 8% then 4%, 4% daily and 8% static maximum.
  • Standard 1-Step ($15K–$200K): 10% target, 4% daily and 6% static maximum.
  • Standard 3-Step: 6% per phase, 4% daily and 8% static maximum.
  • Instant and Blitz models: no or low targets, trailing drawdowns of 4–6%, and consistency rules of 15–30%. GOAT Instant goes up to $400K.

Most two-step models require three trading days of at least 0.5% profit per phase, and there is no evaluation time limit. Leverage is 1:100 on forex during evaluation, dropping to 1:50 once funded, with 1:10–1:20 on indices and commodities.

Funded-account restrictions

The funded stage is where GFT's rulebook becomes demanding. The "Goat Guard" closes all trades at a 2% floating loss on non-instant funded accounts; the first trigger permanently cuts the profit split from 80% to 50%, and a second ends the account.

Profits from trades held under two minutes are removed at payout, profit above $3,000 in a single day does not count, and gains within five minutes of high-impact news are capped at 1% of the starting balance. The first two payouts are limited to 6% of the initial balance or $10,000, whichever is lower.

Self-built EAs are allowed, but copy trading, martingale, grid, HFT and hedging are banned.

Fees and pricing

Prices checked on 5 November 2026 vary widely by model and promotion. A $5K GOAT 2-Step was reported from about $22–$36, while large instant accounts cost several thousand dollars. A novelty "Goat $1" product offers a $1,000 account for $1 with withdrawals capped at $100. The fee is refunded after the fourth payout. Commissions are $5 per round trip on forex and metals.

Platforms, instruments and payouts

GFT supports MT5, cTrader, Match-Trader, TradeLocker and Volumetrica, with forex, metals, energy, indices, stocks and crypto CFDs. Payouts are bi-weekly with a $100 minimum and are sent via Rise, Skrill or crypto, with per-method caps ($3,000 for crypto, $5,000 for Skrill). The firm advertises $500 compensation if processing exceeds its stated timeframe. Its scaling plan adds capital over four levels and raises the split to 95%, with salary perks at the top tiers.

Who it suits

GFT may appeal to swing traders who want to hold positions over weekends, traders who like to experiment with unusual formats such as Blitz or the $1 micro account, and developers running their own expert advisors. It is a poor fit for scalpers affected by the two-minute rule, traders who size up aggressively and could trip the Goat Guard, and anyone who needs certainty about large early withdrawals, given the caps on the first two payouts and the daily profit limit.

Verdict

Goat Funded Trader offers plenty of choice, weekend holding and competitive pricing, but its funded-stage rules are among the most restrictive we have reviewed, and the 2026 Trustpilot fake-review flag and the unresolved TradeXMastery payout complaints are serious red flags. We would only consider it for small, low-cost attempts and recommend reading every funded-account rule on the official Goat Funded Trader website before buying.
