Our Maven Trading review
Overview
Maven Trading is a forex and CFD proprietary trading evaluation firm that launched in 2022 and is led by chief executive Jon Alexander. Although its UK phone numbers lead many traders to assume it is British, recent reviews of its terms show that contracts are with MAVEN LLC, a company in the Dubai Silicon Oasis free zone, with disputes governed by UAE law; FXEmpire separately lists a Saint Lucia entity.
Maven built its following on extremely low challenge prices, starting at around $13 for a $2,000 account, which makes it one of the cheapest ways to try a prop evaluation. As at every firm of this type, traders pay a fee to trade a simulated account, and passing earns a share of simulated profits rather than access to real capital.
Regulation and safety
Maven Trading is not a regulated broker or investment firm, and no financial authority supervises its evaluations or payouts. The relationship is governed by its terms and conditions, which were last amended in October 2025 according to a July 2026 review. Those terms give the firm wide discretion: it can change rules, impose a 1% floating-risk limit at any time and terminate accounts it believes are being "gamified". One clause, quoted by MyForexFirms, states that defaming the company on social media or review sites can lead to account termination. That kind of provision is unusual and worth knowing about before you buy.
Reputation and notable issues
Maven's public reputation took a hit in 2026. Its Trustpilot profile now shows a notice that the TrustScore is unavailable because of a breach of guidelines (seen on the page alongside reviews from April 2026), and PropFirmMap cut its safety grade to D and its payout reliability grade to F in its October 2026 verification.
FXEmpire, writing at the end of 2025 before the suspension, still rated the firm 4.2 and noted a high share of positive reviews. Common complaints described in reviews include the payout cap, mid-evaluation rule tightening, wide gold spreads of several pips, and failed "risk interviews", which are required once cumulative payouts pass $5,000.
Challenge types and rules
Maven offers account sizes of $2K, $5K, $10K, $20K, $50K and $100K across these models:
- 1-Step: 8% target, 3% daily loss and a 5% trailing maximum loss.
- 2-Step: 8% then 5% targets, 4% daily and 8% static maximum loss, with three profitable days of at least 0.5% in each phase.
- 3-Step: 3% target per phase, 2% daily and 3% static maximum loss, the cheapest route but with very little room for error.
- Instant: no evaluation, 2% daily and 3% trailing maximum loss, a 1% floating-loss limit, a 20% consistency rule and a 3% profit threshold before the first payout. A "Mini" instant version runs for 24 hours.
There is no minimum number of trading days on most plans and no time limit, though accounts with no activity for 30 days are closed. Leverage is 1:75 on forex and 1:20 on indices, commodities and metals, with 1:2 on crypto.
Fees and pricing
When checked in early November 2026, list prices ranged from about $13–$19 for a $2K account to roughly $299–$472 for $100K, depending on the model; PropFirmMap noted several prices rose in early November. The fee is refunded with the third withdrawal on an account. Trading commissions are $4 per round lot on forex and higher on metals and energy, while all accounts are swap-free. Reactivating a blown funded account costs from $200 ($2K) up to $6,000 ($100K).
| Item | Maven Trading (checked 2026-11-05) |

Platforms and instruments
Trading takes place on MetaTrader 5 or Match-Trader. FXEmpire counts more than 60 instruments: around 32 currency pairs, four metals, energy and soft commodities, 12 indices and four crypto pairs. Automated trading is off the table: expert advisors are "not permitted under any circumstances", and copy trading, HFT, tick scalping, arbitrage, grid strategies and hedging between accounts are prohibited, as is "excessive scalping" where half or more of trades last under a minute.
Payouts
Funded traders can withdraw every 10 business days, with the first payout available after 10 days, at an 80% split. Payments go out by crypto or bank transfer, with Rise transfers carrying a $20 fee. The key limitation is a $10,000 cap per rolling 30-day cycle across all accounts; reviewers say profits beyond the cap are voided rather than rolled forward.
News trading on standard accounts is restricted to outside a two-minute window around red-folder events, and that window also covers stop-losses and take-profits that trigger inside it. A scaling plan adds 25% to the balance after 10% profit over four months with a payout each month, up to $1 million.
Who it suits
Maven suits manual forex traders on a tight budget who want to practise under a prop rulebook without spending much, and who trade small, controlled positions that fit within 2–4% daily limits. It is a poor match for algorithmic traders, news traders, scalpers, and anyone expecting to withdraw large sums quickly given the payout cap.
Verdict
Maven Trading's low prices, no time limits and swap-free accounts are genuinely appealing. Against them sit a restrictive and discretionary rulebook, a payout cap, an anti-defamation clause and a 2026 Trustpilot guidelines breach that removed its public rating. We consider it usable only for small, inexpensive attempts with money you can afford to lose, and recommend reading the full terms on the official Maven Trading website first.
